Hi
I just have installed an original Radeon 32 mb DDR on my system. Right now I am running Win 98. I went ahead and downloaded the new ATI drivers (from their web site) and tried to install them. The drivers would not install. Stupid "wizard" would claim that I do not have a compatible display device or driver???. So I selected the driver manually as a Radeon 7200. It installed fine, but I wanna make sure that I have selected the right one.... help?
Thanks.

Sure you did'nt just try to download and install the DVD player driver alone? Because i'm sure that's what would show-up if you did.

The old 32 DDR shows up as the 7200 when you install the new drivers, so I don't think i'd worry too much about it.

I am sure that I haven't try to install anything prior to installing a FUNDAMENTAL driver which would make my "Standard PCI Display Adapter" a RADEON......
I ve always had problems with ATI drivers... always.. dammit
Killrose thanks 4 feedback, now I would have to try to install the Radeon on my second operating system (win2k server) and third (linux) fun, fun, fun....

He he, the official ATI drivers set would not install on my second operating system as well so I went ahed and installed the unofficial one from Rage3d which works as a charm.....

IIRC, I got that same error in one of my other comps. I was using the same vid card as you but in 95. I couldn't get it to install. I just gave up. Sorry I can't help.

Firstly, the original Radeon is identified as a 7200 in the newer drivers, the 7200 and original Radeon share the same core, so that is correct. Secondly, you cannot install the upgrade DVD player without the original ATI install disk. Simple as that, you need to either pay ATI to send you a new disk ($10 IIRC) or find an "unauthorized" copy on the internet. Someone like you may be able to find it by typing something similar to "MMC 7.5" into google.
