Help with radeon 9800se

I've been a long time reader and finally need some help. I am trying to put together a machine with some old parts and am running into some issues. I have a ati sapphire 256mb radeon 9800se / amd athlon xp 2600 (333mhz barton core) / and amd a7v8x-x mobo. everytime i try running 3dmark2001se for a benchmark i can even break 10,000 where similar systems are crushing around 15,000-19,000. I performed a clean install and still can't break 10,000. I am running the stock ati driver and I thought it may have been the driver so looked around and found the modified ones and was wondering which would be the best to try either dna, omega or the ones off of techpowerup.com. other than overclocking is there anything glaring that i might be missing when it comes to performance.
