Help with Promise Ultra100 and Abit BF6~

I bought that IDE controller cuz i bought an IBM 75GXP30gig recently. I tried FDISK and installing windows using the controller...but all I get is long long boot up times....and errors when installing programs. I tried installing everything using the BX controller onboard THEN connecting to the Ultra100 controller...I think I installed windows like 8 times....i finally gave up and decided not to use the controller. I noticed that its noticeably faster with the controller...i do want to use it...however I am very sick and tired of trying as of this moment. I have a Intel 10/100 pro NIC, SB LIVE value, Creative DXR2 decoder, ISA USR/3COM 56k, Voodoo3 3500TV....those are all the cards inside my computer. Any help would be appreciated...I have a Celeron 566@905mhz at1.8V ..i backed it down to 566 default and tried...got same results..so i'm pretty sure the chip is not at fault
