Help With Promice IDE Controller

Anubis

No Lifer
I recently installed my Promice ATA 100 IDE controller card and am planning to move both of my HDs onto it instead of the main mobo channel. I did this and everyting works fine. the second reason for installing the card is because i want to have my DVD drive and burner on different IDE cables so i can burnon the fly at 24x without problims.
now when i conect them to the new IDE channels both set on master because there the only drive on the channel. when i start upeither one of them is not recognized at all or it is there and after like 30 seconds it says it was improperly unpluged and dissappears. so im woundering what im dooing wrong and if anyone knows i would really appreciate some help.

yes the HDs are working fine there on the same IDE channel on the card one master one slave but thats not the probllim
the problimis is with the CD Roms running off teh MOBO IDE channels

< now when i conect them to the new IDE channels both set on master >

Sounds like that could be confusing to me..The new ide channels would ofcourse be the promise card since the mobo onboard ide controllers have always been there...anyways...

Go into the bios and have them manually set if that option is allowed...

ok let me unconfuse you
the HDs are on the Promice IDE card working fine. im trying to put the cd roms on the IDE channels on the motherboard this is when i run into thr problims

< ok let me unconfuse you >

I will take that as you not being condescending...

Are you sure you have drives hooked to end of ide cables and that the blue end is connected to the mobo???

They all (meaning the 4 devices) worked at one time together on the onboard ide???

sorry wasent being condecending sorry it sounded that way. for you question everything workde fin when all 4 devices were on the 2 standard IDE channels HDs on one with a master and slave and CD Roms on the other Master and slave and the correct end is in the mobo because i never removed it.

my computers just have problims!! :|

Do you have all the devices you list in system rig plugged in????

Try for testing purposes...

1) back off all ocing...

2) reinstall via 4 in 1's latest

3) unplug 1 of the harddrives off of controller card

4) try placing the boot drive back to primary master with one card on the pci card and see if devices are all found...

ok i put my bootable HD on the IDE card and the CD Rom that was giving me trouble on the standard MOBO IDE and left teh other cdrom and HD unconnected when it booted up this time i got the same error. saying that my DVD rom was improperly unpluged when i didnt do anything to it.

Woundering if reformating and reinstalling with drives in the places that i want them would make any difference??

LMK

i sloved the problim thanks for you help i emnded up dooing the oppsite of what i intended instead of having the HDs rn off of the IDe card im Running both of them off the MOBO and im running the Cd Roms off the card seems to be working
