OK, i have a hp pavillion zt 1175 notebook and the connector on the back where the ac connector plugs in (the round one) it was loose and never had a good connection. well the other day it started smoking. i shut it off and it still works and everything. I took apart the computer and noticed that on the mobo where the part connects there is a small black spot and it is loose any ideas on how to fix it. I assume i could just solder on a new one but i have no clue where to get it. http://img142.echo.cx/my.php?image=untitled7ui.jpg]]

if the connector itself is not phyically damage, you can get it re-soldered on and should be fine. We've done it to a number of laptops for customers at work

yea, it itself does not seem damnaged, but the board where it was soldered on is a bit burnt and i cant quite tell if one of the resistors went up wit it. other wise the laptop works but when i plug in the ac cable the laptop shuts off but only the screen.
