Help with power-on password -> HP Laptop N5425....PLEASE HELP

I'm selling it...so I kinda need to be able to turn it on.

Screwed up my password, can't power on now. 🙁

Is there anyway I can bypass it? I have a installation of bios on a disk for it but, of course, i can't power on w/o the bios password.

Privilion HP5424 model

Are you talking about a bios password? I believe resetting the cmos is the only way to get around that.

open up the computer, look for a battery (kinda like a watch battery but bigger) and there usually will be 3 pins with a jumper on 2 of them
if its on 1 and 2, move it to 2 and 3 for a bit (make sure all power is disconnected) then move it back
if it still doesnt work, move it to 2 and 3, power up and of course it wont start up but then power off, put it back to 1 and 2 and then power back up
if it still doesnt work, take out the battery itself and leave it out for a while (maybe sleep on it just to be sure) and put it backin the morning and power up

This is a laptop 🙂 Not that simple.

This is a security feature thats going to be really hard to get around if HP designed its BIOS correctly. Your best bet is to contact HP and see what they can do for you...

make sure you have some sort of documentation to prove ownership when you get in contact with HP!

yea, as far as they know, you could be a guy who stole the laptop off someone and decided he wanted to try to get the data off of it. You have to actually prove you're the owner first. There's not really any other way around it 🙁
