Help With Photo Taking Technique?

I have been seeing some photos online where the same person appears multiple times in the same shot. I realize I could post process this but it must be possible to delay the shutter to capture several poses without blurring? Would this require manual flash firing during a long exposure?

Thanks

We had a discussion about this technique a little over a year ago. Rather than typing it up again, here's a link to the old thread: click me

I suppose you could accomplish this directly on the camera. You'd need a long shutter speed, then a flash that is aimed only at the person go off a few times. The important part being that the flash has to be on only the person and not the surroundings or you'll end up overexposing the surrounding. Post processing would be much easier.

Agreed it is and I have successfully pulled it off. I am going to perfect it tomorrow and can post a copy if anyone cares.

I did this a couple years ago, just messing around. I did a long exposure in a dark room, used a flash light to paint the subject, then had him move and painted him again.

Was fun to make it seem he was stabbing himself. :)
