For the first time, I've decided that I'd like to dual-boot my Vista beta alongside XP rather than running it through VMWare. I heard good things about PartitionMagic 8 and decided to give it a try, but I am running into a small problem.
I currently have XP Pro set up on a single ~250GB parition that takes up my entire primary HDD. When I am done, I would like to have Windows running on a 75GB parition, Vista on a 25GB partition, and the remaining space as a file storage partition.
However, when I make the above chances in PartitionMagic and hit apply, I receive the following warning: "There is no active partition. Are you sure you want to apply changes?". Naturally, I am hesitant to continue with the changes as I do not want to lose my current XP install. A google search on the above message didn't provide much, at least that I was aware of.
Has anyone had the above error message or have any thoughts as to how I can successfully repartition my HDD without losing the current XP install? Thanks in advance.
