Okay, I am just wondering if it is working for anyone else...

I am using Outlook (XP) and have the outgoing server setup as: mail.pacbell.net

Do I need to do anything else (like authorization)?

I tried sending myself some email to a Hotmail account of mine and its not working. Could it be because I am behind a NAT router? I don't think it matters as long as the destination port is 25 right?

Err...

On pacbell your POP (incoming) server should be postoffice.pacbell.net and your SMTP (outgoing) server should be mail.pacbell.net. Also, on pacbell you must enable authentication for outgoing mail.

My incoming mail server is set to my university's IMAP server because I don't use PacBell email service. It retrieves my mail fine. Just on outgoing mail.

I tried it with and without the authentication option and it didn't work both times. :(

Hmmm. I don't think it's the router thing, because I access my pacbell email from behind a NAT router, and I don't have any problems. On Outlook XP there is a button to Test Account Settings. Have you tried that? If so, which part does it fail on?

Where is this Test button?

Where is this Test button?

Tools>Email Accounts. Select View or Change Existing e-mail accounts. Select your pacbell account and click Change, and it's right there under Test Settings. The button says "Test Account Settings" on it.

Nope. Don't see it. I see More Settings. And that's it. :(

That button won't show up in IMAP settings. Try adding the pacbell account as a pop3 account, and testing it out just to see if it works.
