Help with overclocking x800xt AIW

Hey there. Just wondering if this card is able to be overclocked just a little bit. when I try to use ATITool, it doesn't go any further than 501 (500 default). When I read up on reviews, some people have oc'ed the core and mem. up to 550/570 with stock cooling. Do I need to tweak something? What am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

not sure what you are doing wrong, i have the same card and am able to get it to X850XT PE speeds with no trouble at all with the factory cooler installed. maybe try ATITRAYTOOLS to overclock with. that is what i used to overclock mine. do not forget to increase fan speed to 100% to handle the overclock.

is overiding the fan speed to 100% bad for the card? My old 9800 pro's fan burnt off one time and I wasnt overclocking it. should I wait till my Arctic cooling fan comes in before trying to overclock?

AIW series doesn't OC as well ....

Maybe not in general, but I just sold one that I had installed a Silencer 4 rev.2 on, and was able to play at 585/1200 every day for the 6-7 months I had it. It never went above 63C. I used ATI tray tools.

The stock cooler sucks. I wouldn't OC at all with it.

i also have this card and have no trouble ocing at all, the stock fan does get annoyingly loud though, at least in my opinion

waiting on the silencer to come in then fan problem goes away

If only my x1900xtx fan was as annoyingly loud as the x800xt's fan, my room would be much quieter rigth now.

Who says AIW cards dont OC well? I guess it just depends on some luck. I've been fortunate enough to be able to clock my card up to 605/605 as well as tighten the ram timings! I dont think any of this would be possible without my Zalman cooler and some cool temps though. BTW I use Atitool.
GoodLuck with your OC!

Ok guys, I just got my ati silencer rev. 2 installed on my x800 and it still doesn't over clock by much. its only at 505/516 which isn't much at all. I was told that this could have something to do with bios version and stuff... could this be?

Did you buy the ATI Silencer 1, rev 2 for your AIW X800XT? Was it easy to install?

I want to get a Silencer for my AIW X800XT and wasn't sure which model was compatible.

Are you using the latest Catalyst Drivers from ATI?

Yes it was the ATI silencer 1 rev 2 and it was very easy to install. if you go to the arctic cooling website, this model was the only one listed as compatible with the AIW. I am using ver. 6.3 catalyst drivers. still no luck in the overclock. Do you have to increase the voltage supplied to ur vid card??

I didnt even know you could up the voltage on a x800xt without hardmodding it. But probably no, you dont need to go as far as increas the voltage. Some cards just don't overclock as well as others. But at least with your silencer your card will run nice and quiet at lower temps.

alright... i'll just have to live with it.... I just find it odd that there are people with the same cards who can OC a lot better than mine. A LOT BETTER.
