A lot of you likely figure this is a stupid question but hey if I don't ask I won't find out.

I'm looking at dumping my Intell PII350 and upgrading. Right now I'm looking at an Abit KT7 w/ AMD900 Socket A. I know how to unlock the processor if need be, but are there any of the other bridges that will need to be modified to overclock? Either way can anyone give me a rough idea of what to expect as a viable overclock speed? I've got a lot of years in the tech field, but almost zip in overclocking. Hoping someone will take the time to point me in the right direction!

I just put together an Abit KT7/Athlon 900 combo for my little brother. I had some difficulty at first, but got it up and running before too long. My current system is an Abit KA7/Athlon 550 and I've had no problems with it. As for overclocking, as long as you unlock the cpu, you're good to go. The Abit has all the rest taken care of in the bios. Just make sure you get a good heatsink and quality thermal compound. I wouldn't expect to get much over 1ghz. But, you never know...

abit kt7 raid works fine for me...and the kt7 works fine also...i guess there are some boards out there that aren't in good condition but i haven't ran into any...

as long as the L1 bridges are connected...you'll be fine...
make sure you don't jump the vcore too high ...
i like to burn in the processor before oc'ing it...
