Alrighty, I got my 7900gt finally. Anyway its an awsome card but i still want more. I have coolbits hack and i was wondering why the crap i cant overclock the card? I move the slider from 500 core and 750mem (stock speeds on my eVGA CO 7900gt) Ill move the core to 506 and press test changes. It does the little (test) and then everytime it popups the settings dont work try setting them lower. Something like that.

Anyway i was wondering if anyone could gimmie some pointers.

thanks a bunch!

I dont really like coolbits but it looks like im stuck with it for now, rivatuner doesnt work with my 7900 yet. It loads up but theres no tabs in the bottom right corner like there usually is to mess with OC/D3D/OPENGL settings. Guess the auther needs to update it or if someone can hack the .ini to recognize the card I dunno?

edit: Like I said riva isnt working for me. Rivatuner is working for you king? You have a 7900 card? I want coolbits 1.0 again but i cant find the file for it anywhere. Have a link? or do you know the line in the reg I can edit?

Coolbits sucks for OCing for that very reason. it says it cant OC that high when it actually can. Thats why I like rivatuner cause I can edit it so that the internal clock test doesnt stop me from OCing higher!

I went to power strip site and see if they made a new version but last version was in december so I didnt bother DLing it. im up to 551/799 but coolbits is holding me back! I may give power strip a try to see if its working for 7900 cards. I used powerstrip religeously years ago but switced to rivatuner and have been using that for past couple years.

it doesnt work properly with nvidia cards...like, it can OC them, and you can scan for artifacts, but it wont recognize any artifacts if they happen.

Hmm. When I use it (v 0.25 beta 12) with my 7800GT it gives me artifacts when I clock it too high. Are you saying ATI tool is wrongly giving artifacts, or it can't show them at all?

According to the main site for ATI tool, one of the features of it is: " Artifact scanning mode for non-ATI cards" Link to Tech Power Up

I find that scanning for artifacts isn't really all that reliable in ATI tool. Just load up 3dmark05 and use the second test (the forest one) and it's real easy to spot both artifacts and some texture tearing from too high memeory OC.

Edit: also try the 84.20.v2 Xtream-G Drivers. They have Coolbits built in, and are a better driver IMO.

Hey wiz, whats the pros of the xtream drivers? Are they made for better IQ? Performance? Both? Anything else good about them? Thx in advance. Do they have a main site? Or are they only over at guru3d?/

Neither. He's saying what he clearly said, which is that it doesn't automatically DETECT them. It can test for them but it won't recognize when they are there. YOU can still see them on the 3D test display. It also does not "wrongly give" artifacts. It just won't recognize them itself and pop up a warning or whatever it's supposed to do.

So what prog are ppl using to tweak their cards now? and set up aa/af profiles? I need something where it allows me to adjust all types of AA (the types that are hidden in nvidia panel) and AF as well as rivatuner does. It seems none of the regular tweaking progs have been updated yet! UGH Rivatuner isnt letting me do anything with the 7900GT on FW 84.20

I think with crap 6200 cooler they put on there, on purrpose so users don't figure out it's really a GTX on the cheap, you won't get much higher.

Or I could be wrong:thumbsup:
