Help with overclock and RAID

Hi all,

One of my harddrives crashed 2 months after it was bought. I decided to buy 2 new harddrives then and RAID them. Currently it is 2x 400GB Samsung HD's in RAID 1 Mirror.

PC Specs:
Intel C2D E8400 CPU
Asus P5E X38 Mobo
2GB Corsair Dominator 1066MHz DDR2 RAM
PowerColor ATi Radeon HD3870 512MB GFX
1x 500GB Samsung SATA HDD
2x 400GB Samsung HDD's in RAID 1 (Mirror) Configuration

I always used to just bump my FSB from 333MHz to 400MHz no problem before RAID and get a instant 600MHz overclock (Stable). RAM I would set at 1066MHz in the BIOS. RAM works very well - no problems. The problem comes when I bump it to 400MHz. Before it goes into Windows it gives for about a split second a BSOD. I dont know what it says as it goes by to fast.

One of the new Harddrives was making a clicking noise so I gave it back for a swap out. Intel's Matrix Storage Manager is whining its eyes out now, telling me to fix the missing HD. :laugh: But now that it's only one HD it overclocks 100% again to 3.6GHz.

Could the failing harddrive have caused this anomily or am I dong something wrong? I want to know now what can I do before putting in a replacement HD to complete the RAID.

Failing anything can cause an anomily.

Dont install windows overclocked unless your solid about your overclock.

Ditto, that. Just as a footnote, I'm wondering also if he locked the bus speeds for the disk controller, or left them set to "Auto."

I didnt install Windows while it was overclocked.

Edit: Nevermind found it, researched it, locked them and will now see when I get the replacement if it works.

Ok no nevermind. I need help again. The PC is constantly BSOD'ing now with the new HD in if the RAM is set to 1066MHZ. The way its meant to be! Only 800MHz seems to be valid as I am know typing from it.

How/ where do I lock the busspeeds for the disk controllers? I thought I had it but guess not. Also how do I check if the new HD isn't faulty as well?

Please help now with some good information that I can use as im pretty much pulling my hair out with all the windows reloading, formattin and stuff.
