First build in many years and I'm putting OCZ modstream 450 in a CoolerMaster Cav5 case with an Epox 9NPA Nforce4 Ultra board (Venice 3200 chip). Instructions for the PSU are a little muddy, but seem to say 1) separate out the four pin part of the 24 pin plug 2) plug the 20 pin part in (got that far) 3) grab the other 4 pin cord coming out of PSU and plug that into the 4 pin ATX plug on M/B. Q
Question is, am I right so far, do I use the separate 4 pin plug and b) does that 4 pin I dislodged from the 20+4 pin get plugged into anything or just hang out?

A: The extra 4pin 12v will be obvious if you have the plug on the mobo;)
2 Yellow and 2 Black on that 4pin correct?

B: The extra 4pin on the 20pin is for the 24pin mobos...If you dont need it obviously it wont plug in:)

Pretty confusing what you said. But if you are saying there is a 20pin and 2 other 4pins then see above./

first,

is that board a 24 pin or a 20 pin?

if it's a 24, then everything gets plugged in. if it's a 20, which is what i think you're saying, then seperate the 4pin piece from the 20 pin piece and plug that in. the extra 4 will not be plugged in. the OTHER 4 pin piece will be plugged in at a seperate location on your board.

No. If it's a 20 pin motherboard, take the extra 4 pins off of the 24 pin, then take the other 4 pin that's labeled P4 and plug that one into the 12v connection. More instructions here.
