hi all, my set up:

AthlonXP 1700+ T-Bred A Core
Coolermaster HCC-001 HS with YS-Tech 40CFM Fan
Shuttle AK37GTR v1.3
GeIL PC3500 512mb (256X2) Platinum DDR
Soyo FireDevil 8500LE (oced to 300/300)
Enermax 430W PSU (EG451 P-V)
AverTV PCI TV-Tuner Card
DIY BayBus (dual Voltage 7v/12v)
4x 80mm 50CFM Case Fans
2x 120mm 110CFM Case Fans
Chieftech 1030B Server Case
Maxtor 30g and 40g HDD
Western Digital 30g and 40g HDD
Running Windows XP Pro

PROBLEM:
i currently have the cpu OCed at 1758mhz, via a 9.5x multiplier and a 185fsb, while running about 1.7v into the core. i've ran a many stress test and such on this setting, and have had postive results, it's been stable, or so it seems. lately i've has random restarts, where i'll just be doing my own business, whatever it is, surfing, gaming, you name it, and it would just restart. i've even up the voltage to the chipset a few notches, and the AGP volt also. but to no avail. can anybody suggest what i can do about this dilemma? any info will be appreciated. thanx.

according to MBM my idle temps are 34C but i've heard somewhere thats since my MB isn't using the internal diode, its about 10C-13C off, so i'd say about 44C-47C idle. and on full load it goes up to about 50+C my case temp is 27C

*update* i'm running now at 185FSB with 10X multiplier and 1.75v into the core.

Are you certain that your video card o/c is stable? Have you seen any BSODs? Turn off the auto restart feature in WinXP so that you can see the BSOD if it happens, this will help figure out what is failing on you. Post a summary (Cliff's Notes version :D )of one of the BSODs if possible, one of us may have seen one similar to it.

ever since i started overclocking this system, i have not seen any BSODs at all. i've played countless hours of CS and also ran 3dMark2001SE at thesed OCed speeds, so far no problems.

BUT, how would i go about turning off the "auto-start" feature in Windows XP, and what does it necessarily do?

*update*
currently have Prime95 Running since 11:30 this morning, currently 4:30 and my system is still running (looks at online SN still away, currently at school Comp Lab) last time i had prime95 running, my comp restarted. up-ed the core volt to 1.75, so far so good.

still trying to figure out why my computer randomly restarts itself sometimes. just in the last day, it did it 3 times within a 3hour period.

*another update*
i'm also getting a slk-900U heatsink with a vantec 42CFM fan soon, i'm actually trying for 200FSB and probably a 9 or 9.5 multiplier for the CPU. anything i should take into account before i make the leap for the stars? :p

I'm using a retail XP2100+ B and IDLE temps @ 42-44c and full (SETI@HOME) 50-51c. using retail HS/FAN w/ arctic silver stuff (That was a PITA to apply!)

Still debugging my system, but, was getting random restarts at 166FSB * 10.5 (1750MHz) using Crucial 2100 DDR overclocked. Had settings conservative but still happened. Bumped vdimm voltage from 2.5 to 2.6 and it seemed to stop the reboots (didn't test that long). I then read about memtest, downloaded it and it failed on test #6. So, memory FSB of 166 looks like a no-go for me.

Thus, I've backed down the ram settings to 133FSB and default timings and it went through 1 pass no problem. I'm running again now, this time with ram timings faster on 133 -- 3 2 2 2.5 and so far so good.

Now for the kicker, at 133 3-2-2-2.5 Memtest says thruput is 634MB/s. At 166FSB with conservative timings, the mem thruput was 60x or something like that. So, given no errors in either mode, what's the advantage of going 166FSB?

Anyway, it looks like my RAM Is the weak link. Still need to try OC'ing the CPU, but, gonna work out mem issues first.

Good luck.
