Hi, I have the bits and pieces of a new rig laying around my room and I'm putting it together tomorrow. I wasn't planning on overclocking but now that I've got everything, why not?
I've read all about O/Cing and did it to my friends pc, but am really still a newbie. Would any generous soul like to help me out???
I bought a T-Bird 950 and an Asus A7V-133 which is an overclocker's dream so I hear. Is it a good cpu/mobo combo?? If i do go through with this and get my golden orb and everything how fast could I safely get this thing?
Any advice is good advise and greatly appreciated

thanks

welcome to the club :)

HSF- grab an alpha pal6035 or taisol CGK742092, don't touch the orbs. be exceptionally careful and distribute the weight while applying the new HSF, tbird and duron cores crack at a notorious rate.

CPU- i haven't handled the 950 myself but you're nearing the high end already. be satisfied to get anything above 1ghz, try not to have 1.2ghz dreams as you may be dissapointed. my 1.1 runs stock now, i've decided the hassle of getting it stable at 1.2 isn't worth it. your setup should be fine though, the a7v is an awesome board. as you've done this already i'll assume you know how to OC and the implications of unlocking the L1 bridges w/ a pencil, loctite, or conductive pen.

TEMP- just grab the latest ver of your bios and MBM5 and you should have a relatively good idea of your temp readings, try and keep them in the 40-50 C range under load. however remember that socket a temps aren't extremely accurate, either.
