I recently purchased a second hard drive for my Nforce4 based motherboard (chaintech). Does anyone know how to set up raid 1 on it, preferably without wiping the disk? The manual is no help, and Nvidia's site shows a slick looking GUI that I can find no way to bring up on my computer. Links/advise very much appreciated.

Thank You,
E

You have to go into the BIOS and enable Sata raid, and then assign whatever sata ports the hard drives on to RAID.

It's in the 2nd menu I think in the Chaintech bios.

Then you have to hit F10 when you see the sata raid bios loading on bootup.

Select mirroring, add both drives, and you're done.

I dunno about saving the data though, I'm pretty sure it whipes it but I havnt done a mirror setup in a while.

You have to wipe the disk when going to RAID. So doing what I say will result in loss off all data that is not backed up!!!111one one:

But in the Bios you have to enable on my ASUS A8N-SLi Advanced>Onboard Devices>NVRAID. Enable it on the IDE channel(s) that you have the drives on and if you are reinstalling the OS you need to make a f6 install foppy if you have xp/w2k. To do that make on on the system that you are on extract the forceware drivers and put all the IDE folder stuff except for the RAIDTool folder and its contents on a floppy. After that you then need to hit i think it is (ctrl+s) when the NVRAID screen comes up after the POST and all of this is in your Motherboard manual look up NVRAID or RAID in the table of contents. Then reboot boot to winxp/2k cd then hit f6 when it promts you for f6 for RAID/SCSI driver install. That is for installing Windows on to it. Which im guessing your are gonna do. Im not really sure how the driver works if you are not installing with an f6 install.

Hope I was of help.
