I'm going to try and design a plain and simple website for my church, with the possibility for adding RealAudio at a later point. I would like to know if there are any organizations that either give or sell at a discount server space for orgs such as a church. I'd like to avoid GeoCities/Xoom/etc. if at all possible. Help is appreciated

What state are you in? I helped an abbey setup their site and they got a good deal on hosting too. Have someone in the church write a letter on official letterhead. You'll be surprise how many companies will help a non-profit like a church.

I'm in the technology-trailblazing state of Vermont. :) It's a Presbyterian church.

Does Access1 or HarvardNET server Vermont? They have pretty good deals in Massachuetts and I think you can get a break if youlet them know you are from a non profit. I'm afraid the people I used to know there have since resigned. If they did it once, I'm sure they'll do it again.

Good Luck.

www.pair.com is my favorite web hosting place and if you email them they might offer to cut you a deal, even if they dont though, their service is still very cheap.

I just took tutorials on HTML 1.0, 2.0, and 3.2. I'd also like to learn some CGI scripting, perhaps Perl, and anything else I need. I'd probably be the sole one to update the page, with calendar info, sermon notes, general info, etc.

This is quite a nice thing you are doing; although I am not THAT good with all the tech stuff I would be very happy to you link you guys once the site is completed (on pokeball.net)

I do volunteer work for a Community Information Provider over the Internet that provides free hosting/development for local non-profits. I would check in your area, your best bet would be one of the local ISPs.
