Help with nic problems

Help! I have been trying to install a NIC on an Asus A7M for the last week and cant seem to figure out what the heck is going on.

I have installed 3 different nic's in every known PCI slot on this board and in windows it reads OK.

I reformatted & installed Win ME 2 X in hopes it was TCP-IP. I have tried to refresh and renew and have set all the parameters as per Verizon DSL SPECS. Anyone have a clue as to what my next step would to be? I was thinking of the hammer fix but, this board was a bit too expensive to bash so I will stick to fixing the problem.

Has it ever worked with Verizon? Anything?

Is this DSL new to you?

Its probably not you at all... they might not have it setup in their routers yet or not correctly.

If the NIC is setup on your computer can you ping your own address, from same computer?

Does the modem LED's show a network light, dsl light and power light? Are they all green?

Connect to the internet with another computer and ping the IP and Gateway address they gave you.
If any of those loop then its their problem, not yours.

I know that my DSL provider (Bellsouth) asks for my MAC Address or Adapter address. It's a number that's embedded in the chip on my NIC that is unique to that adapter. They must have this address so they know it's me on the line(I guess security or something). But that's how I get my IP lease from them. You might want to call their Tech Support Line and ask for help. Or keep trying back with us, but it sounds like you've tried a lot of stuff! 😉
