help with new video card

i just bought the parts for two systems, one works just fine the other will not have video coming from the card (the onboard video worked)

the parts i used were the ones suggested in this post by lehtv. i bought 2 of everything, the only difference being the video cards. on one system i used the lower card XFX 6770, and the other was XFX 6870

the 6870 has dual cards, and 2 of the 6 slot pci-e power connectors. the psu suggested only has 1 6 slot pci-e connector CORSAIR CX430

i am not familiar with these types of cards, so either i am hooking up the power wrong for the card, or i need a bigger psu with 2 of those connectors. is that right?

thanks in advance

Er, you mean the 6870 covers two *slots*, right? Not that you got two cards?

Correct. Did you get some little adapter wires in the box with the video card? They should have 4 pins on one end and those 6-pin plugs on the other. It should look roughly like this:

or this:

Plug one of those in to the card and an extra 4-pin connector or two on the PSU. That should work.

yes on the card, it covers two slots, not two individual cards

i didn't see one of those 4 pin to 6 pin converters. i imagine that is something i can pick up at an electronics store (a fry's is about 3 miles from my house).

thanks for the reply
