I just got my mobo, CPU and a new PS.. I hook just he MB, RAM, CPU, VC and it starts up for a cuple seconds then dies. It doesn't post or anything. I have put the fan on both ways so I know its not that. What else could it be? Is my CPU bad or my MB?

This is out of the case so there is no short or anything..

Could you list more details, the specs.

I pulled a "homer". I got a Gigabyte P4 motherboard, same sceniro. Over and over, everything would turn on then off. I remounted everything. Then I notice this weird power connector on the motherboard. Doh!, I plug in the speacial P4 motherboard power connector, everything went fine after that.

I don't know what you mean "put the fan on both ways" , but if the bios is for an Athlon, and the CPU fan is not plugged into the correct header, OR the CPU gets too hot due to an incorrectl HSF attachment (that can happen in seconds), it will shut down. What are your system specs ?
