ok, I finally got this thing booted up, but I ran 3DMark 2001 and I only got 7800 3dmarks! I know I'm not supposed to pay attention to this cause its just a benchmark... blah blah blah, but I should be over 10000 with this setup AT LEAST!

P4 2.4B
Albatron PX845PEV PRO
512 MB MICRON PC-2700
GeForce 4 Ti4400

I got the same score using Det 41.09 and Det 41.80

I looked in the advanced settings and under "Bus" it said "AGP (PCI Mode)"

COuld my low score be because the video card is running in PCI mode? If so how do I get out of it. I already scoured the BIOS and couldnt find anything obvious. Can anyone with this mobo help me out?

Thanks, matt

Have you installed the Intel INF already? Dang, I'm trying to drill down to it at Intel's site but tonight's a bad night for the Internet... anyway, carry on from here.

I installed the INF update that came with the mobo, everything is functioning properly, I dunno what the hell is going on. IF there's one thing I will say for AMD, they make things a lot easier than Intel.

nah, I thought of that too. I'm still in the 7000's

My Athlon XP 1900+ got 13000 with the same video card, so it has to be a setting.

Alright. Now I have an unknown device.

"PCI System Management Bus"

KNow anything about this bad boy?

The Intel INF doesnt seem to have a driver for it. Albatron didnt ship a driver with the mainboard.... hmmm..

Does it run smoothly, or is it halting and jerky? *scopes out manual in PDF format*

Did you make sure the bios was updated to the latest version? Double check the pdf (manual) from Albatron's website and it should give you more information.

Yeah, a calculated risk. BIOS updates The only other idea I could come up with was a guy who was helping a pal troubleshoot, and it turned out his friend had disabled the CPU's L2 cache in the BIOS. As you can imagine, that was really cutting down the performance! :p

Actually the BEST time to update the bios is when you first get it....that way if something goes wrong, you can contact the company you purchased it from for a replacement since most of them have like a 14 day return policy of defective parts.

*UPDATE*

I installed WinXP instead of Win98 and I went from 7000 3dmarks to 12745 at stock settings. I think Win98's life span is coming to an end.

What do u mean memory management? Like Virtual Mem?

Also, DUVIE e-mailed me Microsoft's fix that allowed Win98 to run a CPU over 2.1 GHZ

Anyone have an explanation why I could only run my GF4 in PCI mode?
