Help with new lcd for laptop

I just installed a replacement lcd for my older Sony Vaio laptop. When it boots to XP you can hardly see a thing. I know I have the connectins hooked up right. Any suggestions on what may be wrong? BTW, the lcd tested fine on another Sony. Thanks
