I just got my HP cd-writer 9500i in the mail and it didn't come with any software. I downloaded the drivers off the HP site but when I try to install them it gives me an error saying that no qualified Adaptec products can be detected. The drive is nstalled correctly and is shown in Device Manager. I'm running Windows 2000. Any help would be appreciated.

There shouldn't be any need for special drivers. But if you need CD-writing software that supports the full speed of your burner, then you can follow these links:

Sony CD-Extreme 1.3.390 full install
CD-Extreme update to version 2.0.723
Update to the underlying Prassi PXEngine

and install them in that order. The program is from Sony, but it works with all burners, and works in Win2k. It isn't the world's best CD-writing software, but it'll get the job done, for the most part. Here's an FAQ about doing stuff with CD-Extreme.

Thanks, but I do have the burning software installed and it works. However, it keeps asking me for WNASPI32.dll and saying stuff about how my drive isn't Adaptec certified.
