Help with new hackintosh

I'm about to build a new computer for someone else and as one of their system requirements they wanted to be able to do hackintosh. now to my question can the ati hd 5830 support hackintosh completely.

I have looked around the internet for about an hour and the only thing I could find was about the mobile version and didn't know if that would be the same thing.

p.s please give me the link to your answer or first hand experience.

thank you

nvidia cards tend to have better support under hackintosh. Part of why I went for the gtx 260 instead of the 4870 even though the 4870 was a little cheaper and a better card in some things.

Hackintosh GPU support currently tops out with last-gen GPUs, so the GeForce GTX 200 series and the Radeon 4800 series. The Radeon 5000 series and the GeForce GTX 400 series are not currently supported.

The only reason I choose the 5830 was that the client wanted to be able to do 3 monitors and with ati eyefinity you can with 1 card.

New question: can you do sli on the GTX 260 or 9800GTX+ with hackintosh

Easiest way to do 3 monitors on a Hackintosh is to do a Dual DVI card plus a USB DVI video card, such as this one:

If I were buying a video card today, I'd go with either a GTS250 or 9800GTX+ card (easy to get working, no funky drivers to stay on top of with system updates like the GTX260, 285, etc.). I still recommend avoiding 512MB cards - get either a 256MB, 768MB, or 1GB card to avoid issues.

You can do dual video cards with DSDT mods, but it's not easy. You might be able to find a pre-made one somewhere that will suit your purposes, but if you only need 3 monitors, the easiest way is just to get a USB video card.
