Help with new CPU self-build

Ok, I am new to the site but have been reading the site for awhile and enjoy all of the comments and reviews posted by members. I am currently in the middle of building a new system (first time building) and am looking for some tips and suggestions to help me along the way. I already have my case, Thermaltake Xaser III Super Tower, as well as two Raptor 36GB HD's that I plan to run in Raid. I am also planning on adding another HD probably 160-250GB SATA for added storage. I have pretty much made up my mind on an Athlon 64 3500+ CPU and I'm looking for some advice on what MOBO and Video Card I should consider. My initial idea was an ASUS A8V Deluxe with an ATI 9800PRO 256MB but after reading some other suggestions on here I think there may be some better combinations. Also, for my PSU I am leaning toward a Thermaltake 'W0023' which supplies 560W. Is this too much, or is that not possible when looking at PSU's?

Thermaltake PSU's aren't really the best, you would be better off getting a 400w enermax, or antec, 560w would be a bit of an overkill. As for the video card, If you are gonna be gaming, I would get something newer than a 9800. A 6800, or 6800gt would be a better choice
