i'm not new btw just can't access my old account (already e-mailed mods etc)

anyway i'm looking for advice and knowledge about some pieces i'm considering now and other parts i should consider. i'm basically looking for an intel core 2 duo server-esque setup on the cheap with just enough upgrade ability so that i can go quad or whatever else in the future. the pc will be used for just video editing, dvd editing, and sharing files online

CPU: i figured e4300 because it's the cheapest c2d, the higher multiplier would require less fsb, and it should be a good OC'er. is there ANY real reason to look at an e4400, or higher? the new exx20 don't interest me because i heard they don't OC as well with the larger cache

MOBO: ABIT AB9 Pro - seems overall good, has most of the features i want, has plenty of sata ports which i need, and good price. my only real concern is how good of an overclocker it is

RAM: i have no idea what's good, what's good for OC'ing, and more importantly what'll go good with my mobo. all i know is that the lower fsb required from a e4300 should mean i don't need as good ram as i would need otherwise. i like the price and mhz of these OCZ but they probably wouldn't fit well with my setup so far

PSU: i'm torn between the CORSAIR CMPSU-620HX and SeaSonic M12 SS-600HM. on the one hand i've heard great things about the corsair and would like give it a chance on the other hand i love and trust seasonic, it has 4 12v rails compared to corsairs 3, but it has slightly less power. i need to power hopefully a good overclock (3.0ghz+) and 8-12 hard drives

GPU: i hate deciding on graphics cards. i don't need anything currently top of the line and i won't be touching new FPS games so i don't need a $500 card. what i'd really like is something just powerful enough to play some older games from say 2003 for example and less GPU intensive games like the civilization series. i have no idea about what graphics card would be a good deal right now and need recommendations.

CASE: i like the COOLER MASTER CM Stacker STC-T01-UWK. i know it's an older case and i don't like the fact that i'll have to buy the add-ons to hold the hds in the 5.25" bays but i do like the fact that there's a fan in front of each add-on and like the case itself

and that's basically it. onboard sound is good enough for me for now, hard drives i don't need help with just yet (i'll save that for another topic) and dvd burner i'll throughly search around for myself. i REALLY appreciate any help anyone can provide and i'd really like some opinions.

Haven't built an Intel system in a while, so I won't comment on your specific choices.

However, did you notice that Anandtech posted a "guide" recently on a budget Intel sytem that may suit you? see me

yea i checked it out but i'm looking for more firsthand knowledge and critique on my choices, if they'll live up to my expectations, which choices i should make (like between cpu and psus) and RAM and GPU which i'm not knowledgeable about period.

got my account back, this's it!

i have the abit ab9 pro and a e6600 chip in my rig i'm selling. I had no problems with the board, just remember to have a floppy drive for sata drivers in windows xp setup, vista no drivers are necessary
