help with networking problem XP Pro-> <--XP Home

hi ! Weird Problem...

Config: XP Home Laptop on Router, XP Pro Desktop on Router.

I just changed the printer/sharing protocol to "NetBUI" as recommended by some people...but the problem i have also appears when i use TCP/IP...so it seems not to be protocol related. The NetBUI (iam quite sure)is set up right...eg. provider priorites and everything.

OK..Problem:

* When i open "network places" and want to connect TO the Laptop (from the Desktop w/ XP Pro) i am able to create a network link to the Laptop and i can also browse the shares on the laptop. (Btw. right now i set permissions so EVERYONE, ANONYMOUS etc. can access shares).

* BUT when i do the same (trying to access the Desktop) from the Laptop...i see in the event-log (on the Desktop) that the Laptop tries to login as USERNAME.... (eg. local user on Laptop is: Dana)...so i see an event that the user "Dana" has not been granted access and blah blah.

On the LAPTOP however i see that the connection from the Desktop is achieved by NT_AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS...and therefore WORKS.

On both computers i have only ONE local user (User Dana on the laptop, me on the Desktop). Of course, when 'Dana' wants to connect to the Desktop......well i do not HAVE an account 'dana' on the Desktop. Of course it doesnt work. But i do not WANT to connect as 'Dana' (therefore i dont create user 'Dana' on the desktop) but do it the same way (ANONYMOUS...) as i connect to the Laptop..

I dont understand why it works ONE way but not the other....

I want that any connection via "MS windows network" is done by "ANONMOUS" either way.

No pop-ups...no passwords/logins.

How do i do that ?

Thanks so much !

Edit: I think i will have to change some setting on the Laptop so a ms network connection is made by ANONYMOUS by default ??????? But the laptop is kind of restricted ebcause it only has Home and not Pro.
Why is the behavior on two PCs different ?
