Help with networking over internet

Hey guys,

Don't do much posting outside of buy/sell, but here it goes.

I need to connect to a computer that is on the other side of town. The deal is, I am going to send a computer over to my mother in laws house, and I would prefer not to allow anyone any type of administrator rights to the system. But, I don't want to drive over there everytime that they want to do something on the computer, like put a new game on, or anything else that would require administrator privledges.

Their computer, they have now, which is a pentium 2 I think, has all sorts of junk on there, and I don't want that happening again, at least with what I am sending over. I know that I could just reformat when I get it back, but don't want to mess with all that if I don't have to.

So more or less, can I somehow do a setup where I can get the most user friendly interface, considering that i don't know how to use dos that well, that I can send over files and be able to setup programs on the computer. I will always have someone over there that could help out a little, but don't want to give them the ability to do what they want.

Thanks.

if it will be running windows xp, you can just give yourself remote access via remote desktop. if shes on broadband connect via IP address, and if not you can dial in to it.

if it will not be running xp then look into getting pcAnywhere, or something of that same nature.

good luck

It will be running xp, so is that just some sort of a program within this os.

Does this remote desktop give me the same look as working on my own desktop?

Thanks.
