Ok, I have 2 computers. One really nice one: Samsung 172T, Altec Lansing 641's, Pentium 4 2.4B C1 stepping, 512 PC1066 RDRAM, ATI Radeon 9500 Pro 128MB, Creative Audigy 2, WD "Special Edition" 80GB 8mb cache HDD, Toshiba 16x DVD-Rom, Lite-On 48x CD-RW, Lian-Li PC65B case, Case lights and window appliques, etc. I also have a crappy one: COMPAQ. 800mhz Pentium III. NO VIDEO CARD, NO SOUND CARD, 19inch ROUND monitor, 128 MB SD-Ram, etc.

Thats not the point though.

I really needed help on what components of networking I need for 2 computers, and 1 printer, and 1 cable modem.
Also, more importantly, can you give me suggestions on Brands and Models for these components?

Thanx so much!

I would use some sort of cable/DSL router like the Linksys BEFSR41, and a couple of 10/100 network cards from Linksys or most any other brand you can find. The router will protect you from typical outside attacks and assign IP addresses to your systems. There can be convolutions involved in setting this up sometimes, though. Who's your ISP?

Another option would be to use Windows Internet Connection Sharing, which requires that one computer be on whenever you want Internet access for the other one.

you can use ICS which i set up at my parents house, but that only works because the computer that is the internet gateway is always on.
personally i woudl get 2 10/100 cards a router from netgear, good brand, been using them for years now.

OMG, Im such an idiot.

I forgot to say that I wanted it to be Wireless networking, and I think both computers have the 10/100 card.

By the way, I am debating on whether to buy 802.11B or 802.11G(the new one).

For both of em, are there any good PACKAGES that I can buy? Instead of buying a router AND a seperate Access Point?

Im thinking of Linksys, D-LInk, or Netgear rite now.

Sry, for the confusion, please reply.
