so then i try to remove nero and reinstall it..... well when i put the cd in the installation wizard is "interuppted" and it says to try again..... i have been doing this all night and still no luck....

i want to be able to use nero....

anyone have any ideas as to what i should do or what the problem is?

also it should be known that the version of nero i have does not require serial number to register.... says so on the cd

I'd have to ask why you re-installed winxp, if you already had it installed?

Did you format and reinstall, or just reinstall over the existing install? If not, I'd try that.

Speaking from experience, and regardless of what bull$hit MS says, NEVER upgrade an OS over an OS. Do a clean install instead. In my opinion, some things just don't come thru very well.

Wish I had something more to point at, but Nero is a very stable program. I'm assuming you've ruled out a hardware problem.

If you were running Win98/2K and upgraded to XP and then reinstalled XP on top, I'm surprised you don't have more problems with installed software. You had problems with Nero when you "reinstalled" XP, so there is your problem. Not Nero. I would do a fresh install of XP if you have a full version then install Nero. I've used Nero for years and it's the best burning software out there. Can't say that about Windows.

Backup important stuff, Wipe drive, Install XP clean, Install any other needed drivers(VIA 4 in1, Intel App Acc., etc.), install Nero, Done. 'Nuff said. Upgrades and subsequent "over-installs" work like stool..
