I am putting togther a A64 system , the board is Asus K8VSE DLX and A64 3200+. For some reason I cann't get the stock heatsink off. I am replacing the heatsink with Zalman one. Another problem I am having is I cann't get the Pwr Led and HDD led to lit up in my case.

I checked all the connections , I can turn the system on but the light in the front of the case doesn't come on. Its driving me nuts, I am using Antec 430 W true power.

Thanks

Turn your pin connections the opposite way to get your lights on. If that does not work then you have broken wires from the lights to the board.

Stock heatsink is probably glued to the CPU heatspreader from the stock pad that came on it. You will need to very carefully pry this off. Carefull because if you use to much force you can end up dropping the CPU and damaging pins. And with 754 of them it will be hard to discren which ones you damaged and will definately void any warranty that you had on the CPU.

Yep switch your connections, also make sure you are plugging them into the correct pins. One of the leds has two pins separated by another pin, so depending on how your wires are, you might have to cut them apart. And I second the being careful about removing the stock heatsink. Try running it with prime95 or some other load to heat it up, then it may be easier to remove the sticky thermal pad. I want to apply as5 to my hsf, but haven't yet as the stock cooling is working pretty well so far.

I don't think it'll damage the led, just switch them until they work. Or if they are labeled +,-, chech your mobo's instruction manual. In a duplicate thread you said you got the HD led working but not the power, but here you say you got the power working but not the HD? Also, don't break anything taking out the fans you mentioned in your other thread, I haven't used them but there should be an easy way to remove them. You can buy new fans that also clip into the mounts, or remove the mounts and install the fans with screws if you want.
