Ok, i came across an amazing deal i can't tell u where but it is a amd 64 3200+ and a asus k8v se mother board. for >200 dollars USD. and i can't tell u where or how just realize this is non negotable.

Now i need ram, hd, case, and psu. my budget will be 600-700 dollars all need to be avalible on newegg or from best buy(i work there so i refuse to go elsewhere)

i was thinking OCZ pc 3200 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-146-980&depa=1
a raptor for my games and os http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=22-144-160&depa=1

case i just dunna about. and for my storage i am picking up a 250 sata wd from a friend

I heard OCZ doesn't necessarily do very well with A64s, not a RAM junkie so I don't know much about it.

Have you read this article just done by AT? Unless you really want the raptor, I would get a 7200rpm 8mb cache drive. The performance you get is not worth it for playing games since it just affects loading times a little (in the test it chopped 2-4 seconds off of a 30-40 second load time), and once you are loaded, you should have enough RAM to not be using your HD at all. That money would better be spent on more RAM or a better video card.

As for a case, unless you think you need very strong cooling, the Antec Sonata is a great deal with a quality PSU (which normally retails for $70) for $100. The case is very quiet and looks pretty good, as I said it only has medium cooling potential though, so if you are planning on a lot of overclocking it might not work for you.

^ good advice, including the Sonata. 1 GB of RAM plus a nice 120 GB Samsung 8 MB cahce / 3 year warranty will be cheaper and faster than 512 and a Raptor for everything except loading, plus you'll have an extra 40 GB of space. Even more so if it lets you get at least a 9800 Pro for video.

Memory: 2x512 Mushkin PC3500 Level 1 or Kingston Hyperx PC3500, but you really want the older CAS2 stuff if you can find it.
