Hi...I'm kinda new to the forums here, so I don't know if this is the right place to post this...but if you guys would give me some advice on my problem, I'd greatly appreciate it...

I recently bought a Soyo P4I Firedragon along with a P4 1.7. I hook everything up like it should, but when i turn it on, I don't see any output from the fans. The computer powers up, the drives work, but no response from the monitor, and sometimes when I flip the power switch, the computer starts beeping at intervals...the tech support people all say that it's a memory problem, but I've tried every possible brand of DDR RAM I could get my hands on...any suggestions?

So far, I've used Corsair PC2100, Mushkin PC2100, Corsair PC2700 (some australian site said they got the fd to work with that stuff) and some generic brands from my local Fry's Electronics...

please give us your system specs

Harddisk, video card, CPU, motherboard, etc....

Also, have you tried reseating everything?

Is the fan spinning ?

A very common issue with people new to putting up a computer system is the video card.
AGP slot is very sensitive, so try plug your video card out, then insert it back all the way in.

well...best i can do for now is the system specs...

Soyo P4I Firedragon
P4 1.8ghz
Seagate Barracuda ATAIV 80gb
nVidia gf2 MX 200
1.44mb 3 1/2 in. floppy drive
24x CDROM drive

specs don't look very good because i want to get the d*** thing working at least, so...yeah...

heh..what's reseating? i'm somewhat of a computer newbie...

oh, and yes...the fan is spinning...but to be safe, i used a PCI video card, with the same result (no video, beeping, etc)

Reseating means removing stuff from the slots and re-inserting them to
make sure they are in properly.

Do this with your vid card and ram modules. Leave other cards out until
you get this problem resolved.

Some slots on a new mobo are quite tight and require a few tries to work.
