First let me preface this with the fact I have never built a PC before.
So I am definitely a noobee - so please be gentle . . .

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.

This will be for my wife (and me when she isn't around). There will be some gaming, Photoshop, Quicken, and internet surfing.
Also I'm looking for longivity (if there is such a thing with technology) - something that will "last me" for a minumum of 1 year.

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread.

Budget = $2000 - $2400

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.

Country = USA

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc, etc, etc, you get the picture.

Yes I am an Intel-Fanboy

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.

Please see below

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.

Yes - til I am dreaming about computers, mobos, PSUs, CPU coolers, etc. in my sleep

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

Plan on doing some minor overclocking - like I said, I'm just getting into this aspect of computers but it looks exciting.

Here is my build so far:

Motherboard either: (definitely want DDR3 capability - for longivity)
Gigabyte GA-X38T-DQ6
ASUS P5E3 Deluxe/WiFI-AP

Processor:
Intel Penryn QX9650

CPU Cooler:
Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme

CPU Cooler Fan:
Scythe S-Flex SFF21E 120MM 1200 RPM

Video Card: (only want one - not going into extreme gaming)

Memory: (definitely looking for help here - I haven't done all my research yet)
Corsair CM3X1024-1800C7D Gigabyte approved
Corsair 2x1GB DDR3-1800 CAS7 Dominator Kit

Case:
Antec P180 or P182 (suggestions?)

Power Supply:
PC&C Silencer 750 Quad

Existing Equipment: (should I retain any of these or get new???? - some are stock from an old Dell Dimension 8300)

Hard Drive - WD Caviar WD800JB (80GB) - (my addition)
Hard Drive - Seagate Barracuda ST340016A (40GB) - (stock drive)
