A couple of things. I haven't really heard the name Foxconn before, but every review on newegg for that board is positive, and it has all the features I need.
Would you recommend going with the Venice or Winchester core for the CPU? And is it worth another $80 to get a 3500+ Venice?
I know I've been told to stay away from cases with power supplies included, but every review for this case is positive, and it's on sale this weekend. Do you think I should stick with this because I don't think I'm going to be doing a lot of PSU heavy things like overclocking, etc...
Does Serial ATA150 mean it's a SATA hard drive? Are those the fastest?
Does everything check out? Is it all compatible? Any other suggestions?

And also, if this system is OK, what other equipment do I need to buy before building it? Do I need any extra cables, cooling supplies, anti-static bracelets, etc...?

Bluedeviltron, you've already posted like 8716293 threads on this system. Anyways, the Foxconn is so-so, but if you're overclocking, you want a DFI Lanparty. If you're not, go with the MSI Neo-4 Platinum for it's great features. That PSU is CRAP. Get a good brand name PSU, like Antec, Fortron, Sparkle, XClio, OCZ, or many of the others listed on the forums. Stick with the 3200+ Venice; the 3500+ isnt worth it. Oh, and drop the OMFG-Expensive-as-hell DVD burner. You won't need Lightscribe. Just get a good ~$50 burner, and you'll be set.

using the foxconn motherboard will probably limit your o/c ability. they make nice boards but they are more oem style, without the voltage / fsb adj you would need tp do some seriouos o/c that venice. you may wan to d/l the manual first to verify this, but my current setup is using a foxconn m/b, and although as reliable as you could ask for, i can't get my 2.8c very high without prime errors, actually thinking of chainging boards because of this. maybe look into a msi, asus, abit or gigabyte m/b. the dfi lanparty are serious o/c boards, but they are extremely finicky about ram, have read a lot of bad issues with them.

also, stay away from the rosewill p/s, get an antec that fits your needs.

Is it really necessary to overclock? I mean, how much faster could I get the system to go? Isn't it already fast enough for video editing and gaming?

OK, I don't think I'm going to be doing a lot of overclocking. Is that the only drawback to the Foxconn board?

well, you could get a fx-59 out of a 200 dollar chip, so yes, it is worth it. also, get the msi k8n neo4 plat. and a psu like the seasonic s12-430. also, get an NEC nd3520a dvd burner, because it kicks @ss

I read in the reviews for the k8n neo4 plat that someone had a hard time installing their 6600 GT because it blocked the water block or something. Is that a big problem?

Post one post at a time! Get the NEC ND3520-A and if your building a gaming rig which can overclock quite well get the AX8 and a better graphics card. Get a SATA hard drive, the SATA version of the one you picked will do. The Tagan TG480-U01 is good value, and they also do 530W and 580W versions. Also, get a decent case, and that second power supply is too cheap. In fact, rather than getting a AX8 and better graphics card, spend the extra money on a better case. You want a better case otherwise you will have to upgrade because of poor airflow.

Alright, now THIS is looking like a good system. The parts you listed right now will give you a nice, moderate overclock, and a lot of great features as well. The Neo-4 Platinum isn't he BEST board for overclocking (the DFI Lanparty is a bit better), but it has a lot more features, and will still give you a great overclock. And you won't have to worry about water blocks, because I doubt that you're going to be water cooling your system. I'm a big fan of that XClio PSU. It's really cheap, has 12V rails, and it's made by a great reputable manufacturer.

what about getting a $100 antec case that has a p/s already? maybe something like the 835 series. they come with a good p/s too. you don't need a 530/580W p/s(look at my sig), for your build you need a good quality 350-400W, even to o/c. you also might want to look into a hitach sataII hdd instead of the one you picked, or they have a 80GB one that is only ~$65, and i have read reviews that say it is the sweet spot for price/performance.

also that board is really nice, a friend of mine just got the sli one to replace a dfi sli board, just had a lot of problems with 3 of the dfi sli boards. although the msi doesn't have all the hardcore o/c availability of the dfi, they usually make an extremely good enthusiast board.

Sounds good. So do you think I should go ahead and order these parts? Like I said, I'm not going to be doing a whole hell of a lot of overclocking (I might once I figure out what it is). So it seems like a pretty good setup.

Now what else am I going to have to buy to build the complete system? Other cooling stuff, antistatic, cables, etc...?

thats a good case...but you would probably want to get another 120mm fan (the case only comes with one) to have a good intake-->exhaust fan setup.

looks good to me, i would build it if it were my time to build another, but the only change would be a antec835 series or 1080 series case and the evga video card i recommended. nice to save ~$60 :)

So what makes those cases better than the one I listed? Are they a lot more expensive?

And I already bought the 6600 GT at Frys for $200, I'd rather not take it back.

no it has nothing to do with expense, i am a cheap bastard, and to be honest, i thought it was a different case, a smaller one. that case will do excellent :) i understand about the card, but frys does have a pretty relaxed return policy, but that is a good card, just a little on the high side, that is all.

Cool, I'll think about it. I'm not sure if I should take it back and get the Radeon x800 XL though, for $100 more.
