help with my computer

i just put together my new system. amd xp 1700, ecs ks75a, GF3 etc. The first time i turned it on, i got no video and it wouldn't go anywhere. i tried again, and it loaded up teh bios, so i had it boot to my winxp cd. it started installing it, but when it had to restart, the computer wouldn't come back on. I'm not getting any video and it doesn't even seem like anything is loading. Could there be something wrong with my video card? Any ideas how i can fix this?

thanks for the help

MouseODanger, the first thing I would do is make sure that all of your connections are tight and secure. Next, when you try to load the OS, do it w/ the minimum amount of h/w installed. Ex.: mainboard, processor, RAM & video card only. Pay attention to be sure the video card is seated properly, it may look fine to the eye, but sometimes the video cards needs a little "extra" pressure. Hope this helps.

I've removed and reseated the video card several times, but I will try again. I tried removing all the unnecessary hardware, but that didn't help. I did notice that the 4 times it did start up there was some sort of "Nvidia bios" that I would see on the monitor. Also, when I went to hook up my other computer that I'd been using that day, it won't start up either now. The bios won't even load. Do you think I could have had a power surge or something? If I can't fix it today, I might go get them checked to make sure the motherboards didn't get fried or something.

Any ideas?

ok, I tried resetting the video card, and nothing works. When I hit the power button, everything gets power and initializes, but no bios runs. Nothing gets data. I tried taking out the processor and reinstalling it, and when I turned it on it started doing the same thing, but then shut off. Last time I tried, it didn't even turn on.

any ideas? Is my motherboard dead?

there have been several ECS K7S5A problem threads over in the Motherboards section of this forum. Go over there and do a search for K7S5A and you might get some more info on your problem.
