Help with my CD ROM Drive

I just swapped out power supplies, and for some reason, my CD ROM drive won't be detected anymore. I think I linked it to an error I've been getting on startup that says "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library". A program called "DISCover" isn't initializing. Somehow, and I have know idea what I did, it got deleted. Is there any way I can reinstall this? Or is there a different answer to my CD Rom problem?

Help would be appreciated.

Does the drawer open/close on the drive? Have you checked that you did not knock the data cable loose on the drive? Have you searched for the offending app to see if it is part of some other software?

Both the data and the power cables are connected, I have checked several times. As to the other question, I don't really know what you mean or how to go go about checking it...

You mention "A program called "DISCover"". Search your hd for any files of this name. Use an asterik for the extention.

Does the drive drawer open/close when the rig is on?

The search found no program called "DISCover". I'm pretty sure it got deleted, but I'm not sure how.

As to the drawer, it opens and closes just fine. It just doesn't get detected on startup. I've tried another CD drive also and have had the same problem.

Maybe a reformat would work?
