I'm trying to copy a few files off of my step-dad's comp so I can re-format it, but I can't get the CD-RW drive to work. The first drive that was already in there is really old, and he had problems with it before, so I replaced it with my brand new CD-RW drive that works fine in my computer. For some reason it still won't burn CDs in it.
Does anyone know what the problem could be? I've looked for updated drivers but couldn't find any that are more updated than the ones I have, it's a NEC 9100A if it matters.
Or if anyone could find an alternative solution for saving about 260 MB of data on his computer through the re-format, but still wipe everything else clean. I thought about floppys, but that's just too much work for me. He has no internet access to E-mail it somewhere, and he's not networked to any other computers.
