Help with my 90oC P4 3.2E CPU!

I just installed a P4 3.2E Processor with HT into my PM800-M2 Board. I looked at the CPU temp and it went from 50oc to 80oC to 90oC after 10 minutes of use. I used the standard hsf that Intel provided.

Am I doing something wrong (obviously)? Could I have installed the HSF incorrectly (although all the levers snapped into place correctly)?

Will the temperature drop if I install another HSF with Artic Silver?

Have I damaged my CPU irreparably with just a few minutes of 90oC?

Thanks very much for your help!

Feel the heatsink while the computer is on ..... carefully!

If its too hot to keep your hand on for an extended period of time, take off the heatsink and reseat it. You might also want to install AS5 when you do that.

If its not too hot to keep your hand on for an extended period of time, then your temps are fine .... your motherboard is just reading them wrong.

If the heatsink is cool/cold, take off the heatsink and reseat it, because that means its not making contact with the CPU.
