** I will quote words that I am going to use but possibly not correctly (correct = dictionary definition)**

I've got a 2405fpw and a 2001fpw and recently put them on the same desk. Now that they are side by side it it pretty obvious that the color on the 2001 is more "rich", the display is more "sharp", and the brightness seems to go better with the colors on the screen.

The 2405 seems overly bright and the colors are "washed out". The monitors are each connected through DVI to a different computer so I swapped cables to see if perhaps it the problem was with the signal coming from the computer - this is not the case. I loaded up STALKER on each monitor and again the 2001 was much more pleasing, while the 2405 had washed out colors and high brightness.

I messed around with the settings on the 2405 to make them match those on the 2001 but that did not seem to help. So I did a factory reset on the settings and this is what they are now:

2001:

brightness: 100
contrast: 50

normal sRGB:
R: 100
G: 97
B: 94

2405:

brightness: 50
contrast: 50

normal sRGB:
R: 29
G: 34
B: 22

both have image properties set to auto-adjust

Any ideas on troubleshooting / calibrating? the 2405 would be much appreciated, or does it sound like I should call Dell about some warranty work?

Or - is it normal that these monitors look different? I will try to post pictures later but I doubt the difference will be conveyed through pictures.

I have a 2405. Even though my colors are very good. This model of display does have a problem with being way too bright. I have my brightness settings set almost to minimum.

I have noticed that most colors look really good, but the desktop seems a bit washed out for some reason. I have no idea why. I can only assume it really is a bit washed out, but my picutures mask it becuase of the context.

So the "washed-out" look is probably coming from the screen just being an overly bright model? When I lower the brightness the colors don't look as rich as the color on the 2001fpw though. Since the monitors are different are they just going to look different (colorwise)?
