Hi all,

I just recently got my computer parts, and starting putting everything together. I've built quite a few computers, but i'm unsure as to the best route with something.

I've gotten the case: iCUE 4000D RGB AIRFLOW QL Edition Mid-Tower ATX Case — True White (icue 400d)
I've gotten the AIO cooler: iCUE H100i ELITE CAPELLIX XT Liquid CPU Cooler (icue g100i elite capellix)
My motherboard is this: ROG STRIX Z790-A GAMING WIFI DDR5 LGA 1700 (Rog Strix)

The dilemma I'm having is both the case and the cooler come with a fan hub. The case comes with it pre-installed and seems like a more rudimentary hub, and the H100 comes with the CORSAIR iCUE Commander CORE Controller. My question is, what is the best course of action between the two hubs and the motherboard? it doesn't look like I can just plug the H100i into the fan hub for the case because it has unique connectors. would you ditch the case hub, replace it with the H100 command hub?

Let me know your thoughts on the best connection signal flow. I want to make sure I do it right! everything else seems to be pretty straight forward.

Use the H100 commander core for the pump and all the fans. Or use both. They'll just require 2 USB mobo headers. (Or buy Corsair's powered USB header splitter hub.)

Corsair is in the process of making this all so much easier with their new Link gear that all daisy chains into one tiny biscuit sized controller.

If it's not too late, return the H100 for the new Link version and buy all Link enabled Corsair fans.

Back when I built my Corsair Obsidian 500D RGB Case in 2020 with an H150i and 6 LL RGB fans it was the opposite. The case came with a 6 fan/2 channel capable commander core with no attachment for a cooler and the cooler came with a small controller with only 3 fan hookups. So I hooked all 6 fans and 4 light strips to the commander core's 2 channels and just run the pump off the smaller controller.

Since I recently got the LCD upgrade kit for the H150 I got the USB header splitter that's powered by a SATA plug.

Again, If it's not too late, return the H100 for the new Link version and buy all Link enabled Corsair fans. SO. MUCH. EASIER.

My gawd...that's a LOT of RGB!

I'm still torn about the lighting. In some ways, I like it...but in other ways, it seems like "gamer kiddie" stuff...

It's fun. Also with iCue, very programable for different moods. I'm 56 years old. I refuse to grow up.

Some games take your RGB over, like Metro Exodus, to create environmental effects that correspond to the game.

I did break down and install some Arctic ARGB 140mm fans in my case...and for my AIO cooler. Trouble is, where my PC sits, I can't see any of the inside lighting.
The be quiet! Dark Base Pro 900 rev.2 case is invertible. I MIGHT give it a try again. IIRC, when I was building this PC, the gigantic heatsink for the VRM that covers the area behind the I/O panel interferes with the PSU shroud. Still...IF I can make it work...
