Just recieved my MSI K8T and Athlon 64 3000+ and 1GB of Crucial ram (512x2) from Mwave.com. They tested it and put it together so I dropped it into my case and hook everything up. Push power and nothing happens. The diagnostic LEDs claim there is something wrong with CPU, damaged or installed improperly. I'm hoping to not have to touch the CPU so I'm looking for other problems. The HDs dont spin up, the CPU fan comes on, and it just sits. The manual mentions a 4 pin 12v connect from the PSU to supply power for the CPU. is this needed? It would suprise me if it was needed but not provided. I tried clearing the CMOS but that doesnt help. Any clues?

Yes, it is needed. It comes with the PSU, so if your PSU doesn't have it then you need a new PSU.

sigh, yeah, I figured that had to be the issue but I didn't want to have to buy a new PSU. If only there was a 24 hour computer store in NYC.
