System ran fine for year and half; removed video card to temporarily use in an XP1800 setup I just put together (runs real sweet). I replaced the video card a week later and booted the system only to have it put out 1 long beep and 3 short ones. System appeared to run normal after booting. I went online to check what the beeps meant but couldn?t find anything specific to my mobo, just the basic either video or ram so I reseated ram, video (did one at a time) with no luck. Checked cpu and reseated same beeps. Changed out 1 dimm and NOTHING!!! No beep no post??? Took out video card no post. Removed motherboard to make sure it wasn?t shorting out on the case, nothing. I thought the mobo was dead. One week later? Put everything back together and guess what, it posts but gives me the 1beep-3 short beeps before the boot up. Is my processor dying or what? I don?t have another mobo to try it out on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have any experience with this particular mobo, but given the sequence of events, I wonder if your video card isn't failing to make good contact with the AGP slot. Perhaps some oxidation occured that was irrelevant as long as the card wasn't moved, but that is causing a problem now. Have you tried cleaning the contacts on the card?

Maybe I'm wrong but a problematic video card wouldn't prevent the system from posting. When it didn't post at all everthing powered up
(fans and hdd) but wouldn't even hit the second stage which is the early chipset initialization.

I've had experiences where the board could not properly detect the video card, or even with a bad video cable, where all I got were beeps and no post. If you have an old PCI video card, I would try it. I have an old P2B-DS on my shelf that will no longer boot at all with an AGP video card (just beeps), but will post and boot with a PCI card.
