I am at my wit's end trying to get decent performance in World of Warcraft with this POS motherboard. I don't have huge experience with hardware, and I am looking for some suggestions. I have the following setup:

MSI 875P-Neo FIS2R motherboard
2.4 GHz Intel P4
2x Corsair PC-3200 512 Mb RAM
2x Kingston PC-3700 512 Mb RAM
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro

I currently get 10-15 fps in WoW, when I should be getting at least double that. My partner has an IBM Thinkpad T42p that gets at least double my fps. That shouldn't happen! I've tried using benchmarks to see if the problem is with the system or the graphics card--my 3DMark benchmarks look fine, and Aquamark shows a fine graphic score, but my CPU score sucks. I strongly suspect it is the motherboard, since all other components seem fine.

My computer will not boot using any BIOS setting other than "Slow", no matter what hardware configuration I use, and the computer will not standby in with POS or STR mode, which I can live with if the performance were decent. I would easily go back to 1 Gb RAM if I could boost the framerate.

I have tried:
- getting a replacement MSI board (my old board wouldn't work with more than 1 Gb RAM). After MB replacement, my fps dropped from 15-20 to 10-15!
- every possible combination of 1, 2, and 4 RAM sticks in every possible slot combo
- 3 different hard drives
- 2 different Windows reinstalls
- updating every possible driver from a fresh install
- using non-ATI drivers for the 9800 Pro (makes no difference)

Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated. I am strongly considering buying an Asus MB and washing my hands of this piece of junk.

Sorry for the double post (I posted on the MB boards too)--I didn't see this forum!

Thanks!
