I have had my MSI-6309 V1.0 Mainboard for about a year now. I had a 566 installed and OC'd to 770. I just upgraded to a 900 and am thinking about OC'ing it. When I boot, the POST claims the CPU s running at 933. Whether this is true or not I do not know. I have not flashed the BIOS and am running the original BIOS that came with the board. I noticed that MSI has AMI BIOS at version 1.8 for this board on their website. The download page says NOT TO UPGRADE if not having a problem with the system. I am not having a "problem" so was wondering if I should flash or not.

I can not seem to remember how to verify the settings. The CLK GEN SPREAD SPECTRUM is set to ENABLE; The CPU HOST CLOCK is set to AUTO; and the CPU RATIO is set to 3.0. I remember setting the Host Clock to invoke OC'ing.

The manual is very vague on this subject as I can understand why.

Anyone that has had success in overclocking this board, please help me to remember how.

That's the board I'm running now. First off, update to 1.8. I believe one of the newer versions adds more multipliers, etc. Plus bug fixes, naturally. I've overclocked my PIII 700 to 933 before rather simply, just set the FSB to 133 instead of 100, that was nothing was running out of spec. All I can tell you is make sure you manually specify both your multiplier and FSB is you're going to overclock that way. You know, I don't think there is a 900MHz/100FSB model of the PIIIs. All I know of is the 933, which is 133. Being multiplier locked as the Coppermines are, you'll have to increase your FSB to get the overclock. I don't know how far you'll get without trouble popping up though... Good luck.
