help with MS EXCEL

Ok first a description of what I want:

you know when you have a graph which has an enormous scale, but you can "skip" some values by using one of those squiggly lines on the axis?

is there any way to do that in excel? i really need to do it!!

If you have alternative suggestions please let me know

thanks

that does help, atleast now i know it can be done!
but lets say i've got some values in the bottom portion of the graph, i.e. where it gets cut out and the scale is manually made
(as is the case in the link.)

e.g. look at the graph: http://www.sas.upenn.edu/~azim/graphs.xls

i want the line "jews" to be adjusted so i can stretch out the y-axis scale and analyze the 2 other graphs at the bottom better...
the line at the top- GNP you can ignore, its on a different scale.

thanks

I probably don't understand what you want to do. You have continuous values on the Y-axis from zero to 52,500, so there are no places you can "break" the scale and leave a gap without harming the chart. And you can't change the scaling of the axis in the middle or you'd again be messing up the chart.

I think what would be better, if you want to get a more detailed look at the bottom two trendlines, is to show two charts. The first chart is the one you already have, which makes it possible to see the relationship between all three trendlines at once. And then add a second chart using just the bottom two trendlines, and changing the Y-axis scale so the year-to-year variations are more easily seen and the trendlines aren't so flat.

But to me the chart is fine the way it is.
