I have narrowed my choices down to the Gigabyte 8IXRP, the Asus P4B266, or the Abit BD7-RAID. Any help here would be appreciated.... i could find no reviews on the gigabyte board?, 1 on the abit, and quite a few on the asus... could someone here point me to some more reviews, and give me any input that you may have on these boards, good and bad points? Its being paired with a Northwood 2.2 cpu...

I too am looking for a P4 motherboard. Can any provide advice on any other MOBOs than the ones mentioned at the start of this message string/thread?
The DDR and RDRAM seems to be an issue. Is there any chance that it will be solved soon? I am a novice to building computers and want to use my new computer for audio/video manipulation. You advice would be very much ap[preciated. Also, would it be better to wait a couple of months, or so, to purchase a new MOBO, if new products are in the pipeline?
Thanks in advance, ;)

I just ordered a P4B266-C with a P4 1.6 northwood. the C might have a few less features, but for the price. I was really looking at the 8IRX, but it lacked adjustable vol settings for the cpu. and I didnt want to pay 175 bucks for a motherboard

whateverdude - Are you going to overclock the CPU? If so, I would be interested in your results once you get it going. I too am going to be getting a P4B266 (not sure with rev yet) and either a 1.6A or 1.8A CPU.

Thanks!

The Asus P4B266 is the best out of the bunch in my opinion. I've got my 2ghz northwood at 2.46ghz with retail fan on it. I can go higher but need a better PSU(which ive got coming soon). Also the Asus P4B266 has a 3:4 cpu to memory option which can allow your memory to hit 166FSB in some cases. My memory is at 156FSB at the moment and equals PC800 RDRAM bandwith in sandra scores. The Northwood needs this extra bandwith which none of the other i845d motherboards offer(from what ive seen so far).

My Soyo P4S Dragon Ultra is doing great. 1.7 OC'd to 1.9 USB 2.0, On Board LAN, On Board 5.1 Audio.

With the Asus and the Soyo board, what does the PCI and AGP bus run at when you go over 100 mHz? Do these boards have a 1/4 divider?
