Hey guys,

I just bought a monitor from Staples that was on clearance (it was the display model) and when I got it home I noticed that there is a pin missing on the cable connector that connects the monitor to the video card. I don't have a system that I can test it out on right now, so can anyone tell me whether or not it will work or will I need a new cable (can you even buy these cables?). The monitor is an NEC 17" Multisync 70.

Thanks for any help guys,

A lot of monitors have pins missing. It's probably not an important pin. Mine is missing a few and it works just fine. The only example that I've seen to the contrary is one that had a pin that was mashed into the plastic, and it just fuzzed out during bootup and back in again.

Huh, I wasn't aware that some pins are more important than others! The pin that is missing is the second one in from the right in the middle strip of pins if that makes any difference?!!??

Thanks for you quick response GD695372, it is very much appreciated.

Yea I've seen and thought the same thing before. But they have always worked. Being used I would find a way to test it anyways though. I don't know how long they will honor a exchange or money back on a Item like that. Better safe then sorry.
