Whats the best way to find out what kind of phone modem you have in your comp. I reformatted my HD a while ago and installed Win2k and it does not have the drivers for my modem, but I dont know what kind it is. I have been on cable and will continue to be, its just the yellow question mark in my hardware manager is starting to really bug me.

Any sugesstions will be aprecciated.

pull it out, write down the names of all the chips, and also look on the back for the FCC id number, and you can do to driverguide.com or even the fcc's website, to find out the manuf using that id, driverguide would be a better choice .. its not fun, but in the end you should be able to find the drivers .. good luck ..

Yea you must take it out and examine it, it usually is printed somewhere on the board, either a sticker on one of the chips.
Good luck
